Four Themes Penetrating the Master's Road of Architecture
Theme 1: The archetype of space, exploring its ideological essence
Starting from several essential themes, such as light and geometry honed from residential works in the early stage, to the architectural skill "Ma" in cities, which implies the traditional Japanese space concept, and then build a new relationship in response to the context of the field. This exhibition section collects the works of Tadao Ando from 1969 to the mid-1990s, the first half of his career life, and the essence of his thought can be found.

Theme 2: The challenges of cities, becoming more diverse and showing publicity
Since the mid-1990s, the projects Tadao Ando has participated in have grown on a larger scale, and also gained more diversity and publicity. This exhibition section focuses on the projects expanded in Chinese cities and introduces Tadao Ando's achievements in challenging the city.

Theme 3: The creation of the landscape, endowing the field with new value by architecture
Compared with "the challenge of the city", the main story regarding confrontation, another contrasting theme is "creation of landscape." After carefully appreciating the connotation of the landscape, Tadao Ando highlights its feature and endow the field with new value with his distinctive architectural skill. The Naoshima project, which has been developed for as long as three decades, is the most comprehensive implementation of this architectural skill.

Theme 4: Having conversations with history, triggering the common memories of old and new spaces
Tadao Ando pays tribute to the time ingrained in the old buildings, making every effort to make the time stay as a memory, in the meantime, tries to show a brand-new modern space inside and triggers the conversations between the old and the new.

Without question, Tadao Ando, who was born in Osaka, Japan, is the most influential contemporary architect. Since the age of 21, he, without any formal training, set forth on a seven-year self-taught journey, with his footprints across Europe, America and Africa. Through incessant travel and self-taught, he morphed the essence of well-known architects into his own nutrients. In 1995, he won the Pritzker Architecture Award, which is deemed the Nobel Prize in the architecture field. With the unique Exposed Concrete design style, he embedded architecture in nature and embedded the history in the contemporary. Tadao Ando opens a space for conversation and an impressive architectural path with architecture.
